For me painting is “poetry in motion.” As the poet Gerard Manley Hopkins expressed it:
The world is charged with the Grandeur of God, It will flame out like shining from shook foil…
Through my paintings, especially the landscapes and seascapes, I try to convey a sense of this magnificence and wonder of the world around us. Since the poetry of land and sea cries out to be transposed and painted, I try to capture the spirit and feeling of a scene and look for ways to convey that to the viewer.
